A Little About Tweak’s Founder - Joanne Thorpe

I’ve always had a deep love for exercise there’s something so empowering about pushing my limits and feeling that rush of energy after a challenging workout. Whether I’m sweating through a high-intensity cross-fit session or running my favourite trail, I thrive on the hard work and dedication it takes to stay fit. I’m constantly inspired by the fitness community we have, where we’re all united in our shared passion to forge our minds and bodies through movement.

But there was one problem that no one was talking about athletic underwear. As an active woman, I faced constant discomfort with the options available: chafing, slipping, and poor moisture control. I tried everything creams, various styles, and fabrics but nothing worked. I needed a solution.

One day, while struggling through a painful 20-km run, it hit me: less fabric means less chafing. But women’s thongs, as minimalist as they are, didn’t have the performance fabrics or durability required for intense workouts. So, I decided to combine the comfort of my favourite thong with moisture-wicking fabric blends. And that’s how the first Tweak thong was born.

As soon as I tested the design, my discomfort disappeared. I could finally focus on my performance, not my underwear. Excited by the results, I shared my prototype with top athletes in the cross-fit community. For three months, they put my design to the ultimate test intense workouts, day in and day out.

And you know what? Tweak passed with flying colours.

Since then, I’ve poured my heart and soul into Tweak, creating a product that empowers active women everywhere. My mission is simple: to design underwear that makes you feel like you have nothing on so you can just focus on being your true, powerful self, no matter what life throws at you.
