You know that feeling when your life looks like a Pinterest “that girl” board…
…but inside you feel like a glitchy app that needs a hard reset?
Welcome to the era of burnout, hustle culture, Sunday reset reels, “soft life” TikToks… and still feeling like you’re somehow behind.
This one’s for the gym girls, the side-hustlers, the perfectionists and the women who are tired of holding it all together while their leggings, their schedule, and sometimes their entire life… doesn’t quite fit.
Today we’re talking about:
- Failure (the kind that keeps you up at night)
- The “let it go” theory (no, not the Disney kind)
- And how to recalibrate to who you are and what you stand for - in your personal life and your career
All with that tough-love, Mel Robbins energy: direct, practical, no fluff, all heart.
When “Try Harder” Stops Working
If you’re wired as a high-achiever, you’ve probably been told the same story your whole life:
- Work harder.
- Wake up earlier.
- Hustle more.
- Push through.
That script works… until it doesn’t.
You hit a wall:
- Your PRs stall.
- Your business plateaus.
- Your career feels like groundhog day.
- Your body is sore, your brain is fried, and your personality is living on caffeine and pre-workout.
So you do what you always do: double down.
But the more you push, the more it feels like your life is one long “buffering” circle.
Here’s the truth no one tells you:
There are seasons where the answer isn’t “try harder.”
The answer is: let it go and recalibrate.
Not quit. Not throw out your dreams.
But stop clinging to what no longer fits the woman you’re becoming.
The “Let It Go” Theory: The Reset Button No One Taught You
The “let it go” theory is simple:
When a version of you, a goal, or a standard has expired, holding onto it becomes self-sabotage.
We’re taught to cling:
- To the old job title
- To the old relationship
- To the old body
- To the old routine
- To the old expectations people have of us
But you’re not a phone wallpaper - you’re not meant to stay the same.
For women in the gym + professional world, this hits hard.
You build an identity around being:
- The reliable one
- The high-performing one
- The “she’s always on” one
- The PB-chasing, never-miss-Monday gym girl
And when that cracks? It feels like failure.
Here’s the reframe:
Failure isn’t a verdict. It’s data.
“Let it go” is you choosing to stop running software that’s not compatible with your current operating system.
In practice, “letting it go” can look like:
- Releasing training goals that are based on an older version of your body
- Dropping commitments that exist purely to keep other people comfortable
- Letting go of a career path that looks impressive on LinkedIn but deadens you inside
- Retiring underwear that digs, rolls, or reminds you of a body you no longer have
Yes, even your underwear needs to be recalibrated sometimes.
Step 1: Call the Failure By Its Real Name
You can’t recalibrate a GPS without telling it where you actually are.
Most of us blur the truth with soft language:
- “I’m just a bit off right now.”
- “Work is intense, but it’s fine.”
- “I’ve just lost my gym mojo.”
No.
Say what’s actually going on:
- “I am burned out.”
- “I don’t want this role anymore.”
- “This training style no longer feels good in my body.”
- “I’m not proud of how I’m showing up right now.”
This isn’t about shaming yourself; it’s about clarity.
Try this:
- Grab your notes app or journal.
- Write three headers:
- Personal
- Professional
- Body & Training
- Under each, answer this question:
“Where do I feel like I’ve failed or outgrown something?”
Write fast. No editing. No PR spin.
You’re pulling failure out of the dark, where it feels like a monster, and putting it under bright gym lights where it becomes what it truly is: feedback.
Step 2: Release Season – How To Actually Let It Go
Here’s the part where a lot of people roll their eyes.
“Just let it go” sounds like advice on a pastel Instagram quote tile, not a strategy.
So let’s make it practical.
1. Let go of expired metrics
Are you still judging yourself by:
- Your uni marks from 8 years ago
- A number on the scale
- An old job title
- A follower count
- How heavy you used to squat before an injury
If the metric doesn’t serve the woman you’re becoming, release it.
New metrics might be:
- Energy after a workday
- Quality of your relationships
- How safe you feel in your own skin in leggings and a crop
- How often you keep promises to yourself
2. Let go of misaligned expectations
Whose voice is in your head when you call yourself a failure?
- A parent who meant well but pushed hard
- A coach who only respected you when you won
- A manager who rewarded burnout
- An ex who commented on your body more than your brain
You’re not obligated to carry those expectations.
You get to decide what “success” feels like now:
- Maybe it’s leaving the office on time.
- Maybe it’s training for joy, not punishment.
- Maybe it’s finally wearing the short shorts and not tugging at them every 5 seconds.
3. Let go of gear that doesn’t support this season
Tiny but powerful example:
If your underwear rolls, digs in, gives you VPL under leggings and distracts you mid-set… that’s not “just a minor annoyance.”
It’s micro self-sabotage.
Your gear should support you, not make you shrink, adjust, or apologise.
At Tweak, we design high-performance women’s G-strings for exactly this reason - no VPL under activewear, breathable, stays put through heavy squat sessions, and an adjustable waistband you can wear high, mid or low without it moving.
Letting go can literally be as small and powerful as:
- Retiring the “punishment” underwear
- Investing in pieces that back the woman you are now, not the girl you were 10 years ago
Step 3: Recalibrate – Who Am I Now?
Once you’ve stripped back what’s not you anymore, you’ve got space to answer the real question:
“Who am I now - and what do I stand for?”
Recalibrating isn’t about reinventing yourself to impress people.
It’s about aligning your behaviour, environment, and gear with your values.
Here’s a simple recalibration map:
-
Values (your why)
Choose 3 words you want your life to be built around this season.
Examples: Strength, Ease, Integrity. Or Growth, Play, Courage. -
Behaviour (your how)
For each word, write 2 daily or weekly actions. - Strength → Lift 3x/week; say no to one extra responsibility
- Ease → 10pm screen cut-off; Sunday reset walk + podcast
- Integrity → Don’t ghost your own goals; track the promises you keep to yourself
-
Environment (your where/with what)
Scan your environment: wardrobe, phone, people.
Ask: Does this support or sabotage my values? - Wardrobe: “Do I feel powerful and comfortable in this, or am I hiding?”
- Underwear drawer: “Does this help me move freely, or am I bracing for discomfort all day?”
- Phone: “Does this feed comparison, or inspiration?”
- People: “Do they clap when I choose alignment over people-pleasing?”
-
Identity (your who)
Start sentences with: “I am the kind of woman who…” - …finishes her workouts feeling strong, not shredded mentally.
- …chooses gear that lets her focus on her life, not fidgeting with her outfit.
- …respects her time like it’s a limited edition drop.
That’s recalibration: small, consistent shifts that match your life to your values.
What This Looks Like In Real Life
Gym Edition: From Punishment to Partnership
Old script:
- You punish your body for every “off” meal.
- You train through pain because “rest is for the weak.”
- You wear underwear that rolls, leggings that cut in, and you spend half your session adjusting instead of lifting.
Result: you “fail” your own impossible standards, then spiral.
Recalibrated script:
- You train for strength, mobility and mood.
- Rest days are part of the plan, not a sign you’ve fallen off.
- Your activewear and underwear are teammates, not enemies - no VPL, no rolling waistbands, no “can they see my lines in this lighting?” stress.
You walk into the gym like you’re clocking into a job you chose - not a punishment centre.
Career Edition: From Hustle Culture to High-Integrity Hustle
Old script:
- You say yes to every project.
- You equate self-worth with productivity.
- Your calendar looks like a game of Tetris.
Failure feels like:
- Missing a deadline
- Not getting the promotion
- Burning out and not being able to “push through”
Recalibrated script:
- You say yes only where your values and strengths are used.
- You create non-negotiable focus blocks and rest.
- You define success as impact, not martyrdom.
Failure becomes:
- Data. “That volume is unsustainable.”
- Direction. “That wasn’t my lane; this is.”
Building A Life That Actually Fits (Including What’s Under Your Leggings)
Let’s talk about fit - not just with clothes, but with life.
Think of your life like your favourite pair of leggings:
- When they fit, you forget you’re wearing them. You’re just in your workout, your walk, your day.
- When they don’t, you’re hyper-aware of every pinch, roll, and line.
Your underwear is the invisible foundation of that comfort.
Your values are the invisible foundation of your choices.
Both need to fit the real you.
That’s why we built Tweak the way we did:
- G-strings engineered for zero VPL under leggings
- Breathable and sweat-friendly, so you’re not thinking about… down there
- Designed to stay put through heavy squat sessions, so you’re not doing undercover wedgie-rescues between sets
- Adjustable waistband you can wear high, mid or low - it moves with you, not against you
It’s not “just underwear.” It’s one more way you remind your brain:
“I support myself. I choose things that respect my body and my standards.”
As you recalibrate your life, use this question everywhere:
“Does this fit who I am now - or am I shrinking to make it work?”
If you’re shrinking, it’s not a fit.
A 5-Minute Recalibration Ritual For This Week
Here’s a mini Mel-Robbins-style activation you can actually do today.
Set a 5-minute timer. No distractions.
Minute 1: The truth dump
Write one sentence to complete each:
- In my personal life, I’m done pretending that…
- In my work/career, I’m done pretending that…
- In my body & training, I’m done pretending that…
No filters. Just truth.
Minute 2: The let-it-go list
Write 3 things you’re ready to release this month:
- A belief
- A habit
- A piece of clothing or gear
Circle one you’ll act on in the next 24 hours.
Minute 3: The recalibration words
Choose 3 words for this season:
e.g. Strong. Grounded. Free.
For each, write one small action you’ll take this week.
Minute 4: The environment audit
Look at your desk, your gym bag, or your underwear drawer.
Ask: “Is this set up for the woman I say I am?”
If not, change one thing:
- Donate or retire the pieces that make you feel “meh.”
- Move your gym gear somewhere visible so movement becomes default.
- Build a mini “confidence kit” - leggings you love, sports bra that supports, underwear that disappears under it all.
Minute 5: The future you activation
Close your eyes and picture the you, 6 months from now, who has:
- Let go of the misaligned stuff
- Recalibrated her standards
- Moved through failure without turning it into a personality
Ask her: “What did you stop tolerating?”
Write down the first 3 answers that come up.
That’s your roadmap.
Failure Isn’t the End. It’s the Re-Route.
You’re not behind.
You’re not broken.
You’re just mid-recalibration.
Failure is the moment the old version of you gets exposed as too small.
“Letting it go” is the courage to stop forcing yourself to fit inside it.
Recalibrating is where you build a life - and a wardrobe, and a career - that actually matches your power.
And as you upgrade your mindset, don’t overlook the quiet foundations:
- The way you talk to yourself
- The way you schedule your energy
- The way your clothes and underwear support you to move, lift, and live without distraction
Because when you’re not worried about VPL, rolling waistbands, or discomfort, you free up mental space for the stuff that matters: that email, that lift, that boundary, that new chapter.
